Biography

Bill Lovett, a former corporate Advertising and Marketing Director, now finds his creative voice in painting landscapes that celebrate color and light. Regardless of how dull the day, he still revels in the myriad of colors that surround him — at times, the bold and brilliant; at other times, the muted and subtle. Painting in the style of a “compositional colorist,” he boldly combines shapes and contrasting colors to create his art.

As a native Georgian with deep family roots in South Carolina’s Low Country, he finds endless inspiration for his paintings in the play of light and color along the Southeast’s vast expanse of coastal marshes. While he paints other subjects, a deep passion for the marshlands is readily apparent throughout his entire body of work. The coastal marshes that he has loved since an early age now represent the soul of his artistic pilgrimage – gifts of intimate, ever changing vistas which provide an abiding sense of beauty, wonder and solace.

He has studied with a host of outstanding and widely acclaimed American contemporary artists. His extensive art travels have taken him across the United States, across Europe, to Mexico, and most recently, to the Abacos Islands, but he always loves returning to the glorious marshes of the South.

Bill Lovett’s paintings have been selected for numerous juried art shows, and his works can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the country. Bill and his wife, Vivian, live in the historic district of downtown Marietta, Georgia.
